These letters are being printed off and added to a binder that I will eventually present to my girls when they are old enough to read them. I plan to try and write a letter at least once a month to each of my girls. I thought that it would be nice to share them with all of you as well. 🙂
Now that you are a grown woman, I feel that you are ready to know some of the things that went on when you were a little girl. I am going to do the same thing for your sister. I hope that you find these letters to be funny, interesting, and heck you may even cry a little. I know I sure did writing them. Well…here goes!
First, I want to apologize for not starting this when you were a baby. I know that it would have been a lot of fun to read about the different things you were doing and when. However, I suppose the old saying is true, “better late than never”.
As I am writing this you are in Annaliese’s room “playing” with her. I have to say that I am very proud of the big sister you have become. When you kept asking your dad and I to have a little sister or brother for you I just wasn’t sure. I mean, people kept telling me that going from one kid to two is tough!
You started asking for a sibling when your Aunt Melissa had Tennyson almost 2 years ago! Heck you were hinting at it before that when she was pregnant! Apparently you thought that having a baby around would be amazing… and guess what? You were right!
Although right now I know you don’t understand the struggles that I went through to have both you and your sister, I know that one day you will. I hope and pray that you and Annaliese won’t have the same problems that I had when it comes time for you to start a family. It scares me to think that you may go through the hell that I did. Anyways, that’s not why I wanted to write to you today.
You are such an amazing little girl! You are brilliant, sweet, caring, silly, and most of all you are a loving daughter and big sister. I couldn’t have asked for more from you. You have been such a big helper! You seem to enjoy doing your chores, most of the time, and you are super proud of yourself when you get to help with Anna. Even at the age of 4 you have already figured out what it means to be a good big sister. You enjoy feeding her, changing her diaper, taking baths and getting her clean, and playing with her.
I honestly thought that as soon as the “new” wore off you would get annoyed with all of her cries and the fact that she takes away some of your Mommy Time. However, you still show the same enthusiasm towards her that you did the day we told you I was pregnant. Gosh I remember your reaction like it was yesterday! You grinned up at me and said with confidence, “I’m going to have a baby sister and her name will be princess Annaliese! She’s gonna be a princess just like me!” Guess I learned not to question you when it came to things such as this, huh? You were super proud when we told you we were going to let you name her!
Okay…enough about the past! I want to talk about what you are doing right now!
It’s Summer Time! You seem to miss school a lot, you are going to Thomas Hart Academy right now. You are super excited about starting 4k next year! We took you to take the test for public school…but you were too smart! They said that they could only take 20 students and that they would be the ones that scored the lowest on the test. Well, my sweet, sweet girl you passed their test with flying colors! The entire time the teacher was testing you she kept repeating, “Wow Emalee that’s right!” like she expected you to get a lot more wrong. A lot of family and friends told me that I should have told you to pretend that you didn’t know the answers so that you could get in. I just couldn’t do that…you were so happy when that teacher told you how smart you were! You came home and proudly told your daddy, “I go to smart school! I took a test today and I used all of my brain! That means I get to go back to my smart school!” We just smiled at you, sighed and started making payments to THA again!
You are growing into such a little diva! You have your very own unique style and god forbid anyone question it! Daddy and I have already decided that we are going to be in for a LOT of trouble in a few years! Daddy says that he is going to get ADT put in at the house…but only on your bedroom door and windows! Hehe…I don’t think he trusts you with little boys one bit!
